Case Study -
In 2008-09, we created the first ever E-Learning modules-5 no.s of 25-30 minutes seat time each for a totally different audience-neo literates, illiterates, women members of the self help groups, and elected members of the panchayat. The learning objectives were from topics like Agriculture, panchayat raj, women and community health, energy from biomass etc. The modules were created at Bloom's level 2, and most of Gagne's nine events of instruction were followed. Learning aids, self evaluation etc were given in the module. Ample animations and graphics were used. Language used was colloquial. There was very less text on screen-since we were not sure about the literacy levels of the beneficiaries. Professional voice overs, enacting the course anchoring animated characters like a sarpanch, a progressive farmer, a Vasudev, a lady doctor from district health center etc navigated the learning. This eliminated the beneficiaries' alienation and fear of learning through the computer. The feed back was amazing. Not only the fear factor of the target groups was eliminated, they actually demanded more course ware in this medium. Apart from our conventional E-Learning orders, this was a different experience and challenge which we feel will repeat in the near future. |
